PANORAMIC RIDE:
the tour around the island just takes 20 minutes by car, BREATHTAKING VIEWS.
You can enjoy a panoramic island tour with a curious train on wheels.

TOURIST BUS SERVICE AND LINE:
If you don’t have a car or scooter the bus is convenient.
It offers two routes: the first is the tour of all the beaches of LA MADDALENA, the second one goes to the GARIBALDI house in CAPRERA and returns to NIDO D’AQUILA on the western coast of LA MADDALENA.
Most of the shops display the timetables. You can purchase the tickets on board.

BIKING:
You can rent a mountain bike in VIA AMENDOLA, WARNING: LA MADDALENA IS FULL OF CLIMBS!! And CAPRERA has just a few meters of paved road.   

DOWNTOWN:
The town market, open every day, and ‘supported by the weekly market on Wednesday mornings (Moneta area about 1 km from the village). You can find local produce, cheeses, fresh vegetables, fruits, sweets and many other Prelibatesse enogastronomy of Sardinia.
To taste the “Seadas”, a dessert of fried dough with cheese inside and on top of the honey. Other specialties’ local squid or calamari stuffed ravioli with ricotta cheese and then many other seafood dishes.


 

BEACHES
The most beautiful beaches in LA MADDALENA that deserve all at least one visit.
The beauty of the sea is heart-warming

SPALMATORE – fine sand , crowded in August.
MONTI D’A RENA – coarse sand, comfortable and breezy. Recommended.
BASSA TRINITA – 400 m/0.2 miles from the bus terminus to CASE ORNANO, the second largest bay.
PORTO MASSIMO – featuring the beautiful CALA LUNGA.
TESTA DI POLPO – a series of unmissable small bays, especially the one called “TESTA DEL POLPO”, the octopus head
PUNTA TEGGE – a small beach with comfortable flat rocks, “wonderful sunset”.

THE BEST BEACHES IN CAPRERA:
SPIAGGIA DEL RELITTO – (the shipwreck beach) in CAPRERA, in the extreme south (in the Isola Rossa, Red Island, that is actually a peninsula).
Only reachable by car, scooter or mountain bike after a few kilometres of unpaved road. It’s worth it. You will find the wreck of a coal ship on the shore.
CALA GARIBALDI – In Caprera, on the right after the Moneta bridge. A beach for those less adventurous, it’s easily reachable and crowned with pine trees.
TAHITI – Only reachable by boat or an extremely steep and difficult path. Also known as Cala Coticcio (called the bay of the lovers, the most beautiful in the world)
CALA BRIGANTINA – accessible by boat or dinghy, not easily reachable on foot.
I DUE MARI – on the way to the shipwreck beach you will pass through this narrow isthmus between Caprera and the Red Island.

ARCHIPELAGO DAY CRUISE, TOUR OF THE 7 ISLANDS INCLUDED
giroisoleThe boat leaves every morning from the pier, on the promenade of Via Amendola, and returns in the afternoon. It stops at the most beautiful bays where you will enjoy wonderful swimming experiences. The beauty of the sea is heart-warming. Meal included in the ticket. The trip usually includes a stop at Spargi (Cala Corsara), Budelli e Razzoli (natural pools of Porto Madonna) and Santa Maria.  

ARCHIPELAGO ISLANDS
Spargi: Uninhabited and wild. Near the east side of the island La Maddalena.
Budelli: a beautiful island famous for the Spiaggia Rosa (pink beach), 6 nautical miles from Cala Gavetta. Only inhabited by the keeper’s family. Disembarkation is not allowed.
Razzoli: island in the Strait of Bonifacio.
S. Maria: it features the largest beach of the archipelago. The island is only inhabited during the summer by few families, including the actor Roberto Benigni’s family (so they say some local residents).
S. Stefano: in front of the town of La Maddalena. Former US base.
